Unlike most other parks in the City, Smith is a non-profit organization that relies on donations and to support its general operating expenses and programming. When you make a donation to Smith, you help maintain one of the city’s most vital resources for children and families.
Admission to museums, theme parks, and other ticketed institutions or events is out of reach for many Philadelphia households, as is access to safe green spaces for kids to be kids. These are just a few of the reasons why it’s important to keep Smith free for all. Donors like you make all the difference!

Fundraising Events
Family fun, Team-building, and a Grown Ups only Playground Bash
Smith hosts two annual fundraising events, Slide-A-Thon in the fall and Party in the Playground every spring. Both events are great ways to bond with friends and co-workers while supporting Smith’s mission. United Way
Contributions through workplace United Way campaigns can be directed to support Smith’s work. For the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, simply indicate Smith’s Donor Choice #08371 on your pledge form.

PA Education Tax Credit Program
Smith is an approved Educational Improvement Organization. Qualified businesses and individuals can support Smith through the Pennsylvania Educational Tax Credit program!
Volunteer
Smith welcomes volunteers to help us beautify our spaces, communicate our mission, assemble kits for distribution, and assist with activities. Volunteers have helped us with the following:
- Planting and erosion control projects
- Engaging with families at our annual events
- Assisting with on-site programs including Story Time and Crafts
- Weeding, mulching, landscaping and general maintenance
- Preparing our Annual Appeal bulk mailing
