Bringing Educational Play Directly to Your Neighborhood with Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse

Let Us Bring Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse To You!

We are excited to extend Smith’s programming beyond the limits of our Playground and Playhouse. The Pop-Up Playhouse brings safe, free, and accessible opportunities to play and learn to communities, festivals, schools, and early learning centers.

What is the Pop-Up Playhouse?

The Pop-Up Playhouse is a fun and interactive bus that brings playful learning right to your neighborhood! Designed for kids in preK-5, it’s packed with engaging activities that spark creativity and curiosity. Caregivers will also get tips on how to make play a key part of learning at home. Families can enjoy hands-on play together, take home a kit full of materials to recreate the magic, and get connected with awesome educational and recreational resources across Philadelphia—including all the exciting things happening at Smith!

What is the price?

There is no cost to book the Pop-Up Playhouse. With a focus on our neighbors in the 19121 and 19132 zip codes, we will bring playful learning opportunities to families throughout the city. Requests for the Pop-Up Playhouse will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.

When can I schedule the Pop-Up Playhouse?

Academic School Year: During the school year, the Pop-Up Playhouse is available for preschools and elementary schools. Sessions are geared for PreK - 2nd graders with room for 20 children per session. Multiple sessions are possible during each visit to a school. For example, a classroom with 30 students would schedule a visit with two sessions of 15 students.

Summer: During the summer months, the Pop-Up Playhouse is available for recreation centers, festivals and camps with room for larger groups if  proper outdoor space is available.

Sessions can be in the morning or afternoon and can last 1-2 hours in length. 2 hours are encouraged to promote deep play, flow, and extensive outdoor time
