Ann Newman Giant Wooden Slide

The Giant Wooden Slide is the most popular piece of equipment at Smith and a Philadelphia tradition! Built in 1905, the Slide has entertained multiple generations of families. Grab a burlap sack to take a ride down this 12-foot wide and 60- foot long famous slide.

Stephen Starr Indoor Playground featuring Smithville

Located on the lower level of the Playhouse, Smithville is designed with a roadway, traffic lights, parking, and a car wash for bikes and trikes. Children can also climb into the cozy loft area to relax in the hammock netting.

Indoor: Play-stallations

The Bodek Den on the main floor of the Playhouse is dedicated to a series of rotating thematic Play-stallations. Past themes have included Tinkertown, La La Land, and Fortlandia. Each Play-stallation inspires imagination, creativity, and engagement through different learning experiences that engage skills in literacy, art, sensory play, STEM, and more.

Playbrary Imaginative Playspace

The Playbrary is a wonderland of play experiences. From the puppet theater to the trains, a dollhouse, building blocks, and more, children will find hundreds of ways to use get lost in imaginative play. 

Marion Stokes Library

The Marion Stokes Library is the home of our collection of children’s books. It’s the perfect place to cozy up to a favorite book. Our selection rotates seasonally so there’s always something new to enjoy. Every Wednesday at 10:30 am, meet Mr. Zack in the library for an interactive storytime.

Playground

The Playground is home to over 50 unique pieces of play equipment. Explore Spin City, Swing City, Apollo Spinner, Net Climber, and/or Tot Lot for outdoor fun.

Nature Explore

Our Nature Explore is an outdoor loose-parts play area designed for exploration, learning, and imagination. Children can cook their favorite meal in the mud kitchen, build with tree cookies, and dig for treasure.
